Cannabis Industry in Shock as New York Bans Delta-8 THC
As the controversial proposal of banning the latest cannabis products has entered New York, businesses dealing in cannabis have to forcefully take their assets to other states, like Florida.
After the latest reports by Syracuse, a declaration regarding “cannabinoid and cannabinol products made through can no longer be sold in New York” has been proposed.
Delta-8 THC is considered one of the four commonly produced cannabinoids by the cannabis plant. However, naturally, they are present in a very small quantity. It produces a similar high as Delta-9 THC which is another common cannabinoid.
Even though New York recently legalised the consumption of cannabis for recreational purposes, the decision to ban Delta-8 THC has been a huge shock to businesses all across the United States of America. People over the age of 21 can possess and use a small amount of cannabis for recreation. However, before New York, Delta-8 THC has been banned in at least 12 other states as they have stated it illegal.
Ever since the decision has been made, businesses and residents have been upset. Some of them have moved their business to different states whereas some businessmen are looking for loopholes to let their business survive. Delta-8 THC is one of the most popular types of cannabinoids in the USA as it can be consumed in multiple ways: as edibles, through vaping or smoking.
As per the source, the proposal is subject to a comment period through 19 July 2021.
