[REVIEW] Jack Herer Strain: How to Grow, Genetics, Effects
An all-time favourite strain, Jack Herer is named after the renowned cannabis activist, and the author of The Emperor Wears No Clothes. He was a very prominent voice in the fight for cannabis decriminalization and legalization. His book continues to be an influential resource today even though he passed away in 2010.
The strain was named after him to honour all his struggle, and it continues to remain an effective stress reliever for many around the world. In this article, we are going to discuss the perennial popular strain along with its genetics, effects, and growing techniques.
Let's get started!

Origin and Genetics
The Jack Herer Strain was developed by Sensi Seeds in the 1980s or the 90s and has passed on its great qualities to other crossbred strains like Jack the Ripper, Jack's Cleaner, and Jack Skellington. Even though the exact genetic formula has been kept inside mysterious garb, it is thought to be a combination of Haze hybrid with Northern Lights #5 and Shiva Skunk cross.
The Dutch breeders at Sensi Seeds did a commendable job at recreating Herer's warm and positive personality into a reefer strain that offers recreational value to users around the world.

Growing Info - Jack Herer Strain
Jack Herer strain stands at the easy end of the spectrum when it comes to growing it. No matter where you're planning to grow this beauty, just make sure you have an ample amount of space since this one can grow up to 8 feet in certain cases.
For outdoors, the temperature should remain between 72 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit. If you're planning to grow it indoors and want to maintain the height, you can do that by topping and flowering soon after the plants take root. It has around a 7-10 weeks flowering period, which is typically longer than most cannabis plants. The Jack Herer strain produces almost 18 ounces of yield and is ready to be harvested mid to late September/October.
It is also a fairly low maintenance plant with decent resistance to moulds, pests, bugs, powdery mildew, and more.
Appearance - Jack Herer Strain Review
The appearance of Jack Herer Strain is not as impressive as its line of effects or its tempting aroma. However, it does have a bountiful covering of resin, giving it a sparkling crystalline look that makes even the most seasoned cannabis consumer drool a little. The glistening of the buds is accentuated with the green hues from the sugar leaves and orange pistils that peel from between the greens. The tightly-packed herb is more elongated than round, and high trichome content makes it a very sticky one.
Overall, the Jack Herer Strain Review concludes that this forest green herb is reminiscent of earth and pine, and makes for a stupendous session.

Aroma of Jack Herer Strain
The scent of Jack Herer Strain has its own fan following, as the inviting and invigorating smell is nothing short of a mouth-watering experience. Known as one of the most spicy Sativa, the Jack Herer Strain initial fragrance is very earthy and forestry, reminding you instantly of its connection to nature. The delectable aroma has a hint of citrus-spice, and when burst open, the lemon and orange fragrance flourish and explode in the open.
The peppery, spicy kick along with the citrus hints makes it one of the most appealing strains ever. A small whiff can send you straight to the drool road. Even the after-smoke of the strain leaves behind a very sweet, floral odour, almost resembling that of a potpourri.
Taste & Flavour
If the enticing aroma wasn't enough, the taste and flavour of the Jack Herer Strain will definitely take you straight on the delicious high-road. This is one of the things I enjoyed the most while writing the Jack Herer Strain Review as I felt each note, each flavour so passionately, it changes my perception of the bud.
Like the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree, the flavour is very much a mirror of the scent that we just discussed. The earthy, pine-like qualities are evident in the first toke, whereas many people describe it as a tropical fruit salad with a spicy twist to it.
My favourite part is the underlying sweetness that accompanies the dankness, making it a very balanced and yummy strain. And as your tastebuds relish the flavour of the bud, there is a momentarily herbal flavour that evens out every note and finishes strong.
Effects - Jack Herer Strain Review
The usual words to describe the high of Jack Herer Strain is Happy, Relaxed, and Vivid. It has a strong onset without any delay, which culminates into a headrush that is more energizing than disarraying. It is a perfect pick-me-up strain and makes for a great conversation starter. I have had long meaningful conversations with my homies after ripping this beauty, and at the same time, have had funny unforgettable evenings. The entire spectrum of the strain is astonishing, and discovering what this perfectly balanced Sativa can do is a blessing.
Once the initial strong high quietens, it is replaced by the sense of relaxation that originates from the neck as a tingle and spreads down to the limbs. It is not a couch-lock or immobilizing kind of leisure, but the kind that keeps you on the toes without the anxiety. This period is marked by a surge in creativity and is particularly great for brainstorming and visualization. The sense of ease also makes you free-flowing in conversation along with the happy, euphoric high.
As the high begins your wear down, it brings a high tide of euphoria which makes you feel like you're floating on a cloud. The resultant artistic energy and creativity bring extreme pleasure. For those who are looking to wear down after a long day, this might not be the best strain to consume before sleeping, as you might have trouble closing your eyes and drifting to the dreamland.

Side-Effects
There are no over-the-top side-effects of Jack Herer strain. You might experience dry eyes and mouth, both of which can be battled by staying hydrated throughout the session. You can also get eye drops from a local pharmacy if the dry eyes persist.
Since the strain has a high THC content, it is advised to not overdose on it. People who are sensitive to High THC might experience paranoia and anxiety on overdose. Make sure you keep it limited to the dose that makes you feel happy and euphoric.
