Origin & Genetics

It is said that AK-47 made its way into our cannabis world in the post-war period of the 1970s. However, it rose on the path to popularity and complete acceptance by the experts in 1992. With a strong Sativa backing, AK47 boasts of a strong lineage and has genetics that is traced back to four potent cannabis strains. 

Developed by Serious Seeds in the Netherlands, the strain underwent a rework in 1999 to have uniform seeds, and since then has been one of the strains that changed the cannabis game in the 90s. The four strains used to create Ak-47 are Colombia (Sativa), Mexico (Sativa), Thai (Sativa) and Afghanistan (Indica). With 75% Sativa features, the strain is very well balanced with a 35% trace of Indica. The THC level borders around 20% whereas the CBD levels stay on the lower side (around 1.5%).

Appearance, Growing Info & Yield

The AK-47 Marijuana Strain does not project a trichome covered white beauty, but the overall look of the plant is quite appealing. It has a blend of vivid lime green colour which is paired well with red-orange pistils that curl and twist in between the sugar leaves. It has a fair amount of crystal trichomes shining through the buds, and the plant beholds a magnificent height with large calyxes. This is pretty evident of its extremely smokable buds, which leaves you feeling a buzz of creativity and bouts of relaxation - the best of both the worlds.

Ak-47 is a pretty adaptable plant, and you can grow it either indoors (soil & hydro) or outdoors. You just need a mild climate, with temperatures ranging below seventy-five degrees Fahrenheit. If you experiment and grow at a higher temperature, that yield will likely remain the same, but the buds will open up and become fluffy. 

AK-47 takes eight to nine weeks to flower, and it is grown outdoors. It is usually harvested in the middle of October. If grown accurately, following the growing conditions, you can expect a yield between 350 and 500 grams per square meter.

Aroma & Taste

AK-47 Strain is mostly known as an enticing and aromatic strain that hints at its dank potency and effects in just a single whiff. Mirroring its lineage and parental genetics, it exhibits a blend of fragrance that builds up an intensive yet pleasant scent.

The taste stands true to the aromatic feel of the strain, though you can taste the floral scents much more evidently. It borderlines on spicy and sweet, with the sweetness having an upper-hand on the entire flavour. It is quite appealing to the tongue palate and does not exhibit any extreme sourness or spiciness - perfect for the newbies. 

Effect - AK47 Strain

The effects of the strain do not match the name of the strain. You would expect something powerful to knock off the senses, but instead, you're greeted with a mellow chilled vibe.

Don't get me wrong, the effect is still powerful & potent, which is why the strain is the winner of 16 cannabis awards! But the effects dwell more on the soothing side than the energetic one. Creative people experience the freedom to allow inspiration and talent to take over their work and is great for when you're indulging in your art form. The slight cerebral rush makes it easy to concentrate, focus, and delve deeper into the creativity and the job at hand. It is rarely overwhelming, so your safe space and inspiring ideas are maintained.

On the physical front, it is known to chill the body, almost inducing a 'couch-lock' type situation.
